Thickness describes the consistency of the lubricant based on being thin like water or thick like jelly. Viscosity refers to the "staying power" of the lubricant. For thickness, a "1" rating means completely liquid and a "5" means a thickness like jelly. For viscosity, a "1" rating means that the lubricant dries up fairly quickly and a "5" rating means the lube is very long lasting.
